Giving your insurer a FULL description of your BUSINESS is all too often inadequately dealt with.
I have encountered an insurer declining to deal with a claim for damage caused to a Car Park caused by an oil spill from a HGV simply because the Business Description stated “Retail Convenience Store”, whereas they maintained it should have included reference to a “Car Park”.
Other omissions typically can include, “Retail Shop and Property Owner in respect of rented Apartment overhead, Off Licence, Deli, Cafe, Internet Cafe, Post Office, Bakery, Butchers, Fast Food Outlet” etc.
The list could go on endlessly so I will simply say please be very thorough when providing this to your insurer!
