It is the tradition at the Annual CSNA Dinner that a cheque is presented to a charity of the outgoing CSNA President’s choice. Unfortunately, due to Covid, CSNA was unable to host the function in 2021, but that did not affect our commitment to making a donation to the Presidents charity.
CSNA outgoing President Mr. Peter Gaughan of Spar Balla, Co Mayo chose St Johns Ward, Crumlin Hospital to be the 2021 recipients of the donation.
In April CSNA Past President Peter Gaughan and CSNA Vice President Gus O’Hara were both delighted to be able to visit Crumlin Children’s Hospital to present a €2,500 cheque in person on behalf of CSNA to Professor Aengus O’Marcaigh who kindly accepted the donation on behalf of St Johns Ward.
Speaking on the day Mr Gaughan commented “I am delighted to be able to visit St Johns Ward in person to present the cheque to the amazing staff on the ward. On behalf of all the members of the CSNA we hope that this donation will help the ward to continue to provide the outstanding and exceptional care to their patients.”
Peter and his wife Catherine also presented a cheque to Professor Aengus O’Marcaigh for €12,500. This amazing donation was as a result of Peter and Catherine placing charity boxes at the tills in their shop that their customers generously donated to.
This is proof positive that Local Shops matter, our members record in community engagement is second to none, thank you Catherine and Peter.
