The Association attended a meeting at the Re-Turn offices in Dublin this week hoping that we would be able to learn the timelines and pathways designed by the owners of the Scheme.
Unfortunately, there are very considerable levels of uncertainty revolving around the most basic of considerations and as such, we are less than convinced that any retailer that is being earmarked to do manual takeback (and that is over 85% of all retailers) is having any of their logistics /mechanics mapped out.
Accordingly, we have asked RGDATA to accompany us to a meeting next week with Re-Turn Chairman Tony Keohane and other Re-Turn Board members to advance our belief that the DRS needs to pay much more attention to our very real concerns.
We have already made officials in the relevant Department aware of our worries that retailers that do not have a Reverse Vending Machine will be subjected to several additional problems, not least of which are the potential arguments over invalid containers and possible introduction of dirty and infected bottles/cans.
