Members are becoming increasingly familiar with the steady rise in schemes and initiatives that are constructed to counter some of the excesses of wastefulness in the product chain.
The Circular Economy Programme is one of a number of measures given a legislative basis through a Bill currently progressing through the Oireachtas which will, among other things, promise for levies on a wide range of single-use plastics – starting with disposable cups but which can be adapted to include any number of levies (or penalties) to discourage waste.
