Whether by accident or design, there are literally thousands of euros in overcharges applied to many customers of services such as bin collection, mats and linen provision and recruitment agencies, to mention but a few.
At a recent meeting of the CSNA National Executive, several retailers reported of instances where challenges were made to bills that were incorrect and restitution by way of credit was made, in one instance to the tune of €1,200 for a Waste Collection provider who had managed to charge for 6 bins being collected each week yet there were only 5 bins ever on the site!
Another pay by weight charge was accepted as incorrect as it was seen as having “double counted” some of the bins when the chip was activated twice in the dispensing act.
The falsification of deliveries of the number of floor mats or towels and other billings for toilet supplies that were not supplied would appear rife in some areas.
In many instances, signatures are obtained from staff members who have not seen the delivery taking place, or a “scrawl” accompanies the tablet or digital document.
