We have spoken with Newspread this week to get additional details and clarification on a number of matters that follow from their recent magazine offering announcement.
Those retailers who dealt with both Newspread and Eason/News Brothers many years ago will recall and recoil when they remember the HUGE problems they incurred due to what could only be described as a chaotic magazine market when both companies had the distribution rights for many of the best selling ( and “dogs”) titles.
You CANNOT get these titles from Newspread if you continue to hold an Inpost (EM) account.
You will NOT incur additional delivery charges over and above the charge currently levied to those retailers receiving the Irish Daily Mail/Sun/Sunday Times from Newspread.
This is because these titles are supplied to retailers at the same discount regardless of whether the supplier is Newspread or InPost but the magazine publishers have not made the normal traditional discount of 25% off the ex VAT RRP a condition of terms.
That is why these magazines are discounted at 18% off the ex VAT RRP.
There are also some minor variations to the Ready Reckoners employed by InPost and Newspread where the actual VAT included Euro retail price of UK magazines that have a £ sterling cover price are not the same.
At the moment, and most likely for the foreseeable future, the range covered by Newspread is very limited and does not supply many children’s magazines but the 20 selected are proven in both the Irish and UK market.
