Ampersand is pleased to announce its appointment as the exclusive distributor of Ritmeester Cigars in Ireland, effective from 1 January 2026.
This appointment marks a significant development in the Irish cigar category and will see the full Ritmeester portfolio transition to Ampersand distribution. The range includes the MOODS collection of aromatic filter cigarillos, alongside established classic lines such as Pikeur and Half Corona.
The return of the Ritmeester agency to Ampersand further reinforces the company’s position as Ireland’s largest supplier of machine-made cigars. Ampersand represents a strong cigar portfolio including STG brands, Signature and Henri Wintermans, Agio, and Villiger, and is also recognised as the leading independent supplier in Ireland’s premium cigar market.
Ritmeester is one of Europe’s most established cigar houses, renowned for its blend of heritage, craftsmanship and innovation. Its MOODS range includes bestselling formats such as Mini Moods, Sunshine Filter, Silver Filter and Double Filter, each offering a smooth, aromatic experience designed to meet the preferences of modern adult smokers.
In addition to MOODS, the Ritmeester collection features long-standing favourites including Pikeur and Half Corona, traditional fuller-bodied cigars that continue to appeal to loyal smokers across the Irish market.
Ampersand’s roots in cigars date back to 1881, when the Fox family opened their first cigar shop on Grafton Street in Dublin. The business was formally established as Tobacco Distributors Ltd in 1947, before evolving into Ampersand, now representing a growing portfolio across both tobacco and FMCG categories.
The appointment reflects a shared ambition to support sustainable category growth through quality, consistency and trusted trade partnerships. With decades of experience in the cigar sector, Ampersand is well positioned to support the next chapter of the Ritmeester brand in Ireland.
