We note a news report (see here) that there is a very substantial increase in the price of a stamp from February.
Retailers selling stamps are legally obliged to sell at the set rate but can avail of purchasing additional stock in advance which will earn an additional windfall.
Given that the denomination is not printed, the value is noted by way of a letter (“N” or “W”) but we have sought clarification from An Post as to how the new product (a stamp for Britain-Europe) is to be treated as these were covered by the “W” designation. A concern would be for those with large quantities of “W” stamps that have a much-reduced demand and whether An Post will facilitate returns.
